Quick Start Guide
Get up and running with BeDebtFree in under 5 minutes. This guide walks you through creating your account and adding your first debt.
1. Create Your Account
Getting started with BeDebtFree is simple. Visit our sign up page and create your free account. You can sign up with:
- Email and password
- Google account
- Apple ID
Your free account includes up to 5 debts and access to the snowball payoff strategy.
2. Add Your First Debt
Once you're logged in, you'll see your empty dashboard. Click the "Add Debt" button to add your first debt. You'll need:
- Debt name — A friendly name like "Chase Credit Card"
- Current balance — How much you currently owe
- Interest rate (APR) — The annual interest rate
- Minimum payment — Your required monthly payment
Pro Tip
You can connect your bank accounts via Plaid to automatically import your debt balances. This keeps your information up-to-date without manual entry.
3. Choose Your Payoff Strategy
BeDebtFree supports multiple debt payoff strategies:
Snowball Method (Free)
Pay off debts from smallest to largest balance. Great for building momentum and staying motivated with quick wins.
Avalanche Method (Plus)
Pay off debts from highest to lowest interest rate. Mathematically optimal — saves the most money in interest.
Custom Order (Plus)
Drag and drop to set your own payoff priority. Perfect when you have personal reasons for tackling certain debts first.
4. Track Your Progress
As you make payments, log them in BeDebtFree to see your progress. The dashboard shows:
- Total debt remaining
- Projected debt-free date
- Total interest you'll save
- Monthly payment breakdown
